Radio Signals From Proxima Centauri, Evidence of Alien Life?

oolWorlds aliens signal 758x427 - Radio Signals From Proxima Centauri, Evidence of Alien Life?

Astronomers have detected radio waves coming from the closest star to Earth, and they could be evidence that we are not alone in the Universe. It is a first for astronomy because Proxima Centauri was found to emit bursts of light as well in 2016. This time around it does appear there may be some kind of alien life form on its surface sending out signals across space towards Earth but more research will need to take place before any conclusions can really come about with certainty.

Scientists recently announced their discovery that an exoplanet orbiting close-by red dwarf star known as Proxima Centauri has been emitting what appears at this point only circumstantial signs indicative of possible intelligent extraterrestrial activity (specifically, intermittent high-frequency radio.

Recently, astronomers have discovered that the closest star to Earth, Proxima Centauri is sending out radio waves. Could it be possible that we are not alone in this Universe? They first noticed something was amiss when they found bursts of light coming from its surface last year and now these new findings could mean there’s a potential for alien life on our nearest neighboring planet. More research will need to take place before any conclusions can really come about with certainty- but if true, this would be an incredible discovery!

“To reach Proxima Centauri b takes about 80,000 years with our current technology. With light sail technology it would take roughly 20 years.” – Avi Loeb

The craft that they are planning to use is called a ‘nanocraft’. A nanocraft is a gram-scale spacecraft which has been propelled by a light beam, such as a laser. Proxima Centauri b is Proxima’s closest star to Earth and has an estimated mass almost 1.3 times greater than earth, Proxima Centauri b also orbits Proxima once every 11 days—fast enough so that it can be considered in the habitable zone which means there could be liquid water at its surface which is a key ingredient to life. Proxima has been known for years and it was first discovered in 1915, Proxima is also the closest star to Earth that’s not our sun its 4.3 light years away.

One of the problems that scientists face is traveling at faster speeds because Proxima Centauri is 4.3 light years away, Proxima Centauri b is the closest to Proxima Centauri which Proxima b is another star that orbits Proxima and it has an estimated mass almost 1.3 times greater than earth and its orbit around Proxima takes 11 days—fast enough so that it can be considered in the habitable zone which means there could be liquid water at its surface. Proxima has been known for years and Proxima Centauri was first discovered in 1915 Proxima is also the closest star to Earth that’s not our sun.

We are not alone in this Universe! Or at least, that’s what some astronomers would have us believe. They first noticed something was amiss when they found bursts of light coming from Proxima Centauri’s surface last year. And now, these new findings could mean there is a potential for alien life on our nearest neighboring planet: Proxima b.
