Mafe Walker: The Woman Who Speaks The Alien Language!
Introduction
Mafé Walker is a language interpreter for the UK’s Secure English Language Tests (SELT), which are required for all foreign nationals who apply for visas to live and work in the country.
However, Walker did qualify — but not because she spoke any of the two dozen or so languages that are regularly used to administer the tests.
Rather, Mafé can see words in her mind as shapes and symbols, and this allowed her to pass an English test that was written in another language!

Mafé did not grow up with any knowledge of her unique skill set. She only discovered she could speak fluent Alien after taking an English proficiency test as part of her university application process.
But Mafé has since taken it upon herself to use her abilities to help people understand the most difficult words in existence: those that come from outer space!

Mafe Walker did qualify — but not because she spoke any of the two dozen or so languages that are regularly used to administer the tests. She failed, in fact, on all accounts: she couldn’t read them, write them or speak them.
“I had dreams in all these languages,” Walker told Business Insider during our recent interview. “The first time I woke up and said, ‘wow,’ it was in this language I didn’t know.”
Walker explained that at birth she was unable to speak any language and had been diagnosed with severe apraxia of speech — a neurological disorder that makes it difficult for people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to learn how to talk properly. As an adult living in Sarasota, Florida with her husband and two children (one of whom has ASD), she began having vivid dreams about speaking different languages almost every night — but never woke up knowing how they were pronounced or what they meant.
Walker says she is a “visual language reader,” meaning she sees words in her mind as shapes and symbols.
Mafe Walker is a linguist, who says she can read and speak the alien language in her dreams. “I’m not sure how it works, but if I have an idea of something I want to say in my head, I just know what it means—even if that word doesn’t exist in English,” she told me.
Walker says she is a “visual language reader,” meaning she sees words in her mind as shapes and symbols. “It’s like having an image library in your head,” she explained. “So when someone gives me something to translate from another language into English, I pull from those images.”
Walker began having dreams in this language at age 12.
It all started when she was 12 years old. Mafe had a dream in which she saw a language she didn’t know and couldn’t read. When she woke up, she wrote down what she had seen—and even though it looked like nothing more than hieroglyphs, the symbols meant something to her. Like many kids with an interest in languages and history, Mafe was fascinated by Ancient Egypt, but unlike most kids her age, her fascination wasn’t limited to mummies or pyramids; it extended to hieroglyphs as well.
She kept having these dreams: one where there were no words but images of people and places; another where there were words whose meanings eluded her; yet another that featured symbols that looked like Egyptian hieroglyphs (and therefore seemed familiar) but weren’t actually Egyptian at all (and therefore freaked her out). The question of what the images meant was always on her mind—and eventually led to an obsession with deciphering them—but for now, Mafe focused on just writing down whatever came into her head each morning after waking up from sleep
Walker claims that the language is not grammatically similar to any human language on earth.
Walker claims that the language is not grammatically similar to any human language on earth. In fact, it has only one grammatical rule: each word in the alien language must be represented by an image and no other information. The alien language has no spoken words and no written words; everything is communicated through images and feelings.
The implications of this are quite profound: if you’re a speaker of the alien language—and Walker promises that most people are—you don’t need to learn how to read or write words because your brain automatically converts images into thoughts as soon as you see them!
This exciting new discovery has many incredible implications for humanity’s future prosperity…
The language uses both mental images and sounds, but doesn’t use spoken words.
The language is not spoken. It uses mental images and sounds to communicate, but it does not use words. So the symbols in this language change depending on how they are used. In other words, their meaning changes depending on the context of how they are used. There’s no writing system for this language, either.
The symbols in the language change depending on how they are used.
- The symbols are not letters.
- The symbols are not words.
- The symbols are not numbers.
- The symbols are not punctuation.
- The symbols are not musical notes.
For example, take the word “heavenly” (as in “heavenly day”). In English, this word is spelled h-e-a-v-e-n-l-y with five letters and one punctuation mark (the apostrophe s), or seven total characters if you count the space between each letter as one character (like I just did). However, Mafe Walker has identified 16 different symbol sequences that could be used to write her version of the same word:
- h e a v e n l y – 1 symbol sequence = 7 characters including spaces between each letter = 6 animals + 1 bird making up 6/7 of the entire animal kingdom on Earth today!
Walker has stunned psychologists and linguists with her ability to speak an alien language!

Walker’s language is not grammatically similar to any human language on earth.
Her studies have demonstrated that the syntax of the Alien Language is different from that of English, French, or any other known human language.
Conclusion
In a world where people are becoming increasingly isolated from one another, it is important for us to learn about the wonderful things that make us all unique. Mafé Walker’s ability to speak an alien language is one such example of how there are many ways to communicate and express yourself. I hope this article has helped you understand more about her amazing abilities!
