The Egyptian site was discovered near the Temple of Kom Ombo, in the southern part of the country. Archaeologists estimate that this civilization existed between 722 and 525 B.C., which is during what is known as the Saite Period of Ancient Egypt. Among other items found at this specific archaeological site were 5-inch-long (13 centimeters) arrowheads, along with carvings made from wood and bone artifacts. These findings were all contained within an ancient city wall that had been constructed out of mud-brick, containing two gates that faced north and south to separate the residential area from a route toward the Nile River. Archaeologists had also found the foundations of houses and cemeteries, as well as a temple dedicated to crocodiles.
